Information on Organic Food

Foods produced naturally by using natural compounds such as manure and compost are called organic foods. This type of food does not depend on chemicals, preservatives, antibiotics, GMO’s, artificial hormones. Due to which, organic farming technique is now being preferred more by many farmers as it keeps the soil in good condition and conserve more water. Dairy products, vegetables, fruits, meats, grains are some of the examples of organic foods.

  1. More Content of Vitamins and Antioxidants are found in Organic Food –Vitamins, antioxidants, micronutrients like iron and zinc are found in organic foods in good numbers. For instance; berries and corn when grown organically are known to contain a good content of antioxidants and vitamins in the region of 52% and 58% respectively. Moreover, the levels of vitamins and antioxidants are found to be in good numbers in organic fruits, cereals and vegetables compared to naturally grown foods. One of the successes behind this is that organic foods do not rely on chemical pesticides making them capable of producing their own antioxidant.
  2. Low Level of Nitrate – Capable of causing cancer and other life-threatening diseases is due to a chemical called nitrate. This chemical is found in organic crops however, it is found in small amount.

Organic foods are on the rise and there are many stores selling this type of food in almost majority of the countries. Moreover, many buyers especially those in their 20’s and 30’s are switching over to consuming more of organic foods for many health benefits. Foods that are labeled organic produce in Brisbane are now on the rise.
